About Us

The Coalition for Muslim School Holiday is a coalition of faith-based, civil rights, community and labor groups and grassroots leaders organizing to incorporate #EidinNYC public schools! There are an estimated 1 million Muslims in NYC. Every year, on their most sacred high holidays, 1 out of every 8 public school children is forced to make an unfair choice between their education and their faith. That’s about 12% of the entire school population. At its core, the issue of Muslim school holidays is about fairness. Our campaign’s request reaffirms that all students, including Muslim students, are an integral part of our city and promotes our shared values of diversity and inclusion.
